Possability People Delighted to Receive Donation
Possability People is delighted to announce a donation of £5,000 to help continue to deliver essential services to disabled people during Covid-19 from housing charity Zetetick.
Disabled people were more likely to experience feelings of isolation before the Covid-19 crisis and they have suffered disproportionately during the pandemic. Possability People’s work supporting disabled people reduces the pressure on acute and primary care services and at the same time helps people develop the resilience, digital skills and coping strategies they need for a future where ‘anything is possible’ for them.
Zetetick is a unique housing charity providing supported living homes to vulnerable adults and people with disabilities, learning difficulties, autism and mental health problems in South London and the South East. They aim to be ‘life partners’ to their tenants for their housing needs. Their donation to Possability People will help the user-led organisation top up its core operational costs so that they can continue to offer a large range of services including a care and support agency, support for hospital discharge and an employment support programme.
Possability People is a charity which supports disabled people and people with long term health conditions to live independently. Started in 1981, it runs a range of projects and services in Brighton and Hove, East and West Sussex, and more recently in Surrey.
Jonathan Spencer, Deputy CEO at charity Zetetick Housing said:
‘With Possability People there is a total harmony between the approaches of our organisations. We both aim to empower choice, deliver dignity, and focus on independent living. They are a perfect fit for our COVID-19 charitable support strategy and we are looking forward to working together closely in the future.’
Geraldine Des Moulins, Possability People’s Chief Executive Officer said:
“This is a generous and thoughtful donation and we are enormously grateful for it. It is also extremely rewarding because Zetetick’s approach in supporting people to live independently comes from the same school of thought as ours. Disabled people are so often denied opportunity or choice because they are not adequately supported; this donation will help Possability People to continue to do just that, ensuring disabled people can live independently, with dignity and without prejudice”.
