Possability People Host Hustings on Disability

Brighton and Hove charity, Possabilty People, is hosting a hustings event for residents to ask their local political parties how they will support disabled people if they are elected

Taking place at The Friends Meeting House on Ship Street at 4.30pm on Wednesday 24 April, the panel will have the opportunity to answer questions submitted in advance, as well as some directly from the audience.

The panel includes:

The Conservative Party: Andrew Wealls
The Green Party: Phélim Mac Cafferty
The Labour and Co-operative Group: Claire Moonan

Geraldine Des Moulins, Possability People’s Chief Executive says:

“Our local councillors play a critical role in ensuring good quality of life for local people. They make fundamental decisions about how the city works, and many of those decisions impact on disabled people.

“We want to provide an opportunity for the city’s disabled people, and people with long term health conditions, or older people, to learn more about the values and plans their potential councillors have which will affect them.

“We are enormously grateful to all the candidates for taking the time to join us, and we very much hope to have a lively and informative debate”.

Members of the public who are disabled, or who have an interest in issues affecting disabled people, are encouraged to attend the event, which is free of charge. The event will be supported by British Sign Language interpreters.
