Sponsored bike ride for Possability People

Sponsor our Community Employment Team in Hastings as they cycle from Brighton to Hove

I’m Angela and I work with a great team at Possability People, a Sussex charity that supports people with long term health conditions or impairments to live independently.

I work for the Community Employment Service in Hastings. My job is to support disabled people who are thinking about getting a job to see what they can do, instead of what they can’t. We set goals and work on things like CVs and interviews, using the internet, managing our health in work, as well as helping people to manage talking to employers about their health or impairments.

I am so inspired by the people I meet, that I want to raise money for the project’s future. And, excitingly, the volunteers & participants who come to the service want to do the same.

To that end, we are all doing a 72 mile sponsored bike ride, from Hastings to Brighton and back. With a twist. We will be doing it on exercise bikes which Helenswood Sports Centre have very kindly loaned us. This means that all of our volunteers and participants can join in. As a team, we will take it in turns to cycle part of the journey and raise money for a project we all know is amazing.

We will have a smoothie bike peddling with us and making fruit smoothies for anyone who wants to drop in on the day, and home made cakes and tea too.
“Get Set has really given me the support I have needed. I have hope, I know I can get back to my old self, work again and move my life to where I want to be, and like you said, belong in society.”
The bike ride takes place at on 21 November 2018 at Jackson Hall, Portland Place, Hastings cycling from 9.30 to 4.30.
